Duke Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery of Lumberton became a
Southeastern Health owned and operated clinic in November 2017. The
following Duke Health physicians remain on our team to provide the same level
of care our patients have enjoyed for over 10 years: Drs. Charles Anene, Matthew
Cummings, Terry Lowry, Sydney Short and Christopher Walters. Dr. Archie
(Zan) Tyson, a Duke Health Electrophysiologist, joined the physician team
November 6, and Dr. Bill Herzog, an Interventional Cardiologist, is joining the
Duke team in March 2018. •

“The transition from a Duke Private Diagnostic Clinic to a Southeastern Health
owned and operated clinic illustrates the positive growth of our heart and
vascular program.” said SeHealth Vice President of Post-Acute Care Services and
Chief Continuum of Care Officer Lori Dove. “We were very proud to change the
Matthew Cummings, MD name of the clinic to Southeastern Cardiology and Cardiovascular Clinic.”

“We sincerely value these patients and appreciate that they have entrusted both SeHealth and Duke Health with their heart
and vascular needs during times of health crisis as well as health stability,” said SeHealth President/CEO Joann Anderson.

“This is a very positive and beneficial change for our community,” said Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Matthew Cummings.
“The sole purpose of the new agreement between Duke Health and Southeastern Health is to allow much needed growth of
outpatient cardiovascular services offered locally, while maintaining a strong relationship with the physicians and support
staff at Duke Health. The physicians, midlevel providers, and research staff in Lumberton will remain Duke Health
employees, and continue to collaborate with our colleagues at Duke Health. Most importantly, our patients will continue to
have direct and unlimited access to expert cardiovascular consultation and care from Duke Health if and when that’s needed.”

“Now, in addition to offering high quality cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, Southeastern Health is expanding heart and
vascular services to include vascular surgery, vascular medicine and advanced electrophysiology (heart arrhythmia) care,”
stated Dove. Duke Health has been a valued part of our team since 2006, managing Southeastern Health Heart and Vascular,
located on the campus of Southeastern Regional Medical Center. Southeastern Cardiology and Cardiovascular Clinic is •
