Dawn relates a story of how her neighbor, Vickie Chap-
man’s, pastor preached a sermon one Sunday morning
about so many people in his church congregation that were
dealing with crippling diseases. During that sermon he
made the comment that some people are “called to suffer”.
That comment stayed with Vickie. Later, as Vickie and
Dawn were taking an afternoon walk in their neighborhood
Vickie stated she needed to talk to Dawn and Maegan about
something serious after their walk. She told them “The
Lord has laid it upon my heart that you both are to write a
book” she said. We both just laughed out loud! Exclaimed
Dawn. But Vickie was serious, she said the Lord had laid
this on her heart and that the title for the book was to be –
“Called To Suffer”.
Two years passed without any more talk of a book. Then
one day while on the way to Duke University Hospital on
one of Maegan’s “bad days” she confided in her mother that
she had been working on the book. “So, have I” Dawn told
her. So, from that day forward a collaboration began on the
effort to chronical Maegan’s story. “Called to Suffer” was Southern Door Designs
born. “The unique thing about this book is that it is not only
from my point of view, but from my mother’s point of view Décor for your Door
as my caretaker” said Maegan. They both also confess that
putting this in writing was very therapeutic. Special Orders Available
