Local Artist Showcases Talent

As a writer for Robeson Liv-
ing magazine over the past few
years, I have done feature sto-
ries on many artists from our
community. I’ve witnessed art
in many forms. I’ve seen artists
of all ages. However, I’m still
amazed at the amount of talent
found right here in our own
back yards.

One such example is young
Chaz Lamb of Lumberton.
Chaz has chosen to work in a
medium unfamiliar to most art-
ists. He can take a simple piece
of sheet metal and make it into
beautiful works of art. Equally
amazing is the fact that Chaz,
23, has only been doing this
since October 2017. However,
during that time he has churned
out quite a few pieces.

Chaz cuts amazing images
from the metal without the use
of any special cutting equip-
ment. All work is done free-
hand. “I just draw the image on
a piece of sixteen-gauge sheet
metal and then cut it out with a
plasma cutter,” he stated. There
are several steps to the process
including heating for color and
grinding for detail. Precision is
key in each piece.
