Half a Pound

of Eggs???

I recently came across an old daily desk diary from 1940.
It is full of amazing recipes from generations past with
little notes throughout the book about events the writer
had attended and recording those in attendance.

You will see such items as nut meats and to cook in a My imagination was just running wild while reading the
moderate oven. I have to wonder.........what is moderate to recipes. I went back to my childhood and to the weeks lead-
you? Would it be the same for me? Or what is considered ing up to Christmas Day with the smells of cinnamon and
half pound of eggs? Does that mean you must crack eggs nutmeg in the air. A time when desserts were not purchased
and run off to the bathroom scales after adding each one but lovingly prepared by my mother’s hands. Her recipe
to weigh your eggs? book was much like this one but was in a composition book
stained with milk and butter splatters from years of use.
It also seems that when this precious lady was not cook-
ing then she certainly was going to circle meets or off to a Perhaps you can also take a stroll down memory lane while
reception. I can just picture her in my head with her shiny reading some of these recipes. Hopefully it will make your
