She doesn’t mind the trips out west, noting gleefully that the
travel gives her additional time with her grandkids, ages 4 and
1.
When not making jewelry, Wilson creates textile collages,
sculptures and acrylic and watercolor paintings. She recently
delved into making barn quilts — currently painting one for
the Harnett County Barn Quilt Trail to be displayed at Averas-
boro Battlefield Museum. Diverging into metal crafts, she and
her husband partnered up to construct camel-shaped steel golf
tee markers for the golf course at Keith Hills, which quickly
became a hot Facebook commodity.
Locally supporting the arts, Wilson teaches jewelry classes at
Central Carolina Community College, though currently inter-
rupted by COVID-19. These courses have included collage
and mixed media workshop, wire wrapped jewelry basics and
card making. She is also on the board at the Harnett County
Arts Council and is enthusiastic about the art scene here.
“The arts are growing in the county, and it is wonderful,” she
said. “The Arts Council has exciting opportunities for all art-
ists in the area coming up, to both be recognized and to sell
their wares at different events. I just can’t wait.”
