Crohn’s disease can reduce the body’s ability to absorb essen-
tial nutrients. Some foods and beverages can cause further ir-
ritation, while others may help prevent or reduce flare-ups.
Surgery
Roughly 70% of Crohn’s patients need surgery. The procedure,
known as a resection, removes the diseased part of the gastro-
intestinal tract and connects the two healthy ends. Up to 60%
of Crohn’s patients who undergo surgery experience a recur-
rence in their symptoms within ten years.
Medical Research Studies
If publicly available treatments don’t work, people with
Crohn’s may also consider volunteering for a medical research
study. Participants receive cutting-edge medical therapies free
of charge while also helping to develop new treatments that
could potentially benefit others living with Crohn’s. Contact us
