Opening day at the museum on May 18th was rainy but well attended. There were lots of umbrellas. The
ribbon cutting ceremony took place under a tent in front of museum. Speakers included the museum’s
founders and Mayor Oscar Harris.
The Native American display, shown with
Manager, Christy Moore, features a
“Jingle” dress worn at Pow -Wows, a
ceremonial drum and a quilt that represents
tribes in North Carolina. There are
approximately 180,000 Native Americans
throughout the state.
